Intrepid232 head to the start of the 2021 Race

In December Intrepid232 decided to head to San Sebastián de La Gomera to see the start of the 2021 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.  There were certain restrictions on how close spectators could get to the boats, thanks to COVID, however the experience was invaluable.  We spoke with several crews before they left, getting some tips from them and also with the promise of contact once they had finished, to tell us what worked and what – if anything – they would change.  We were there for a presentation by Ian Couch, aimed at crews who were planning on undertaking this challenge in the future, this was sobering and very honest.  We also met some crews who will be doing it in 2023, the same year as us. The atmosphere as the boats left at three minute intervals was electric and very emotional.  We got in plenty of hill walking (our villa was at the top of the steepest hill, surrounded by orange trees, avocados, mangos), swimming and even managed a trip to the National Park.
