At the end of September Intrepid232 were very excited to embark on their first trip to Burnham-on-Crouch to visit Rannoch Adventure.  

Rannoch Adventure is the company that build the vast majority of ocean going rowing boats. Experts in their field, they will be building our brand new boat, the RX45. Having only spoken to them via Zoom it was fantastic to finally be able to meet the team who would be building our boat face to face! The RX45 is a new model and based on the tried and tested classic design of the R45.  The RX45 is designed to be a sleeker, lighter and faster carbon fibre version.  

We arranged to meet Lizzie Brown and Charlie Pitcher.  Charlie took us on a tour of the production line, explaining the key components and the manufacturing process that our boat will go through and the differences between the current R45 and the new RX45. Lizzie then went through the various additional kit that we will require for our crossing and answered all of the long list of questions that we had. Their expertise and passion were obvious, having undertaken many expeditions themselves we knew that they were speaking from experience. We are very excited to see our new boat – expected in September 2022. It will be interesting to see how the massive list of kit (not to mention food) will fit in!!!
