The team are now back from a fantastic weekend training camp with the legend Duncan Roy. We had hoped that this would take place in Jersey but tide and weather conditions meant that this was not possible so last minute travel arrangements and a huge shout out to team Marduk Atlantic Challenge for very generously lending us Amphitrite for our first coaching session with Duncan at Burnham-on-Crouch.
We learnt a lot, know that there is lots more to learn but happy that we nailed our weekend objectives and had fun doing it – land-based top to tail run through of the boat, on-water training including our first night row, various skills and drills, and dinner on board!
We are now feeling a lot more confident to conduct our next few training weekends in the coming months and putting into practice the skills and drills taught by Duncan. What he doesn’t know about ocean rowing is not worth knowing and we feel very lucky to have him on board with us as part of our team. Definately a huge inspiration.
